What is Managed Wireless?
For $4.95 per month, we help you set up and remote troubleshoot the Wave Rural Connect devices on your wireless network. This service includes any necessary password changes or equipment troubleshooting. The Optical Network Terminal, or ONT, serves as the modem, and, if you subscribe to managed wireless, the ONT also provides WiFi in one device. Additionally, Wave Rural Connect provides insight into how your personal devices are connecting and behaving on the network if connectivity or performance issues arise.
Managed Wireless, (sometimes called Managed WiFi), is relatively new in the broadband industry. It refers to systems that allow either the consumer or the ISP (Wave) a means of viewing, managing, and troubleshooting a home’s wireless network. Our WiFi-enabled ONT devices allow you to set permissions, access limits, and time limits for individual devices—since lil’ Timmy just can’t quit Fortnite at bed-time.
One ONT (Does Not) Rule Them All.
Large homes or intricate designs that impede the wireless signal may require extenders to fulfill a strong signal throughout. We also recommend wired connections for televisions whenever possible. Two wired connections are included in the necessary TV installation.
Please be aware that the location of the ONT, the design of the home, heavily-streaming video, gaming, and using many devices simultaneously all can impact the quality of the wireless connection.
Without Managed Wireless, the user is solely responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and updating any non-Wave equipment. Additionally, the user must solve any device connectivity issues on their own.
The Benefits of Managed Wireless.
With Managed Wireless, Wave can often identify if the usage or devices are causing any network issues and either correct them or provide a suggestion. We can also monitor, reset, update, and troubleshoot devices provided by Wave Rural Connect remotely if you experience issues. Without Managed Wireless, the user is solely responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and updating any non-Wave equipment. Additionally, the user must solve any device connectivity issues on their own, and the user must buy their own router to use WiFi service off the Wave ONT.
As our WiFi-enabled ONT allows you control of how and when devices connect you have much greater control and capacity to employ security systems, smarthome devices, and home-wide video and audio. When you take advantage of fiber internet speeds and our Managed Wireless service, you open a whole world of control of your connected life.
